Terms of Use

These terms cover the use of this website. By reading it you accept them. They were last updated on 26 September 2026.

What this site is for

Wildfish Media publishes explanatory writing about tropical cyclones, warning systems and travel weather in Asia and the Pacific. Everything here is general information for a general reader. It is written to help someone understand what an official bulletin means, not to replace that bulletin.

Nothing on this site is professional meteorological advice, and nothing on it is travel, financial, legal or insurance advice. Decisions about your own safety, your travel and your money are yours, and this site is not a party to them.

This site does not replace an official warning

This is the most important term on this page.

Where anything written here conflicts with a warning, advisory or forecast issued by a national meteorological agency or an emergency authority, follow the official one. Those agencies — among them the Japan Meteorological Agency, the United States National Hurricane Center, PAGASA in the Philippines, the Korea Meteorological Administration, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Central Weather Administration in Taiwan — are the only authoritative sources for their areas, and they are the source this site draws on.

Weather information ages quickly. An article describing a live storm was accurate to the bulletins available when it was written and may not be accurate an hour later. Thresholds, warning levels and agency procedures also change between seasons. Check the date on an article and check the agency before acting on anything.

Accuracy and availability

Articles are written carefully, figures are taken from named sources, and errors are corrected when they are pointed out. Even so, no guarantee is given that anything here is complete, current or free of mistakes. If you find an error, the contact page explains how to report it.

The site is provided as it is. No guarantee is given that it will be available without interruption or free of technical fault.

External links

Articles link to meteorological agencies, transport operators and other outside websites. Those sites are not controlled by Wildfish Media and no responsibility is accepted for their content, their accuracy or their availability. A link is not an endorsement, and following one takes you under that site's own terms and privacy policy.

Copyright

Original text on this site is the property of its author and may not be republished in full without permission. Short quotations with a link back are fine and do not require asking.

Images are a separate matter. Satellite imagery is from NASA Worldview and is in the public domain. Photographs from Wikimedia Commons remain the property of their photographers and are used under the licences named in each caption; if you want to reuse one, take it from Wikimedia Commons under that licence rather than from this site. Where you believe an image here is used incorrectly, write to the contact address and it will be corrected or removed.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page shows when they last were, and the current version is the one that applies.
